Jean Cheng Gorman
I am a psychologist and pastor and serve the Pacific Southwest region of our denomination as Director of Ministerial Health, supporting pastors and churches to be healthy and fruitful in ministry. I love my job and am grateful to be in a position where my gifts, passions and skills all come together to serve others.
I have been married for 26 years and have two children in college, one teenager and a really big Great Dane. We recently moved to the Monterey Peninsula, and my daily beach walks deepen my connection with God. The ocean reminds me of God’s power, sovereignty and unrelenting grace, and finding tiny creatures in tide pools always helps me recall God’s intimate love for each one of us!
I was raised to value my ethnicity and cultural heritage and was not even remotely interested in religion or spirituality until some personal crises led me to find God as a first-year college student. God has helped me discover who He is through His Word, through loving Christian relationships, by experiencing and leading worship, and through serving Him. As an introvert, I especially appreciate contemplative spiritual practices and enjoy introducing others to these. What gives me great joy is seeing God at work in other people’s lives. I am particularly interested in coming alongside those who desire to know God more deeply (to be Rooted in God) as well as those who seek to develop resilience in life. My own journey has been one of finding wholeness through hardship, and I believe God can bring much blessing through seasons of struggle.
I’m looking forward to getting to know you via Zoom!
